Whether you're a small business or a big one, I can help you get stuff done. Efficiently and effectively.
I can work with you as a consultant and contractor specialising in commercial project management.
The thing about project management is that it means different things to different people. To me it means:
Clarity, consistency and communication - managing expectations to make things happen for you on time and on budget.
Processes, policies and procedures - that work for your business. Not endless folders that get quickly forgotten when you need them most.
Automation and adaptability - scalable solutions for now, and the next bit of your business journey too.
Organisation and system improvement - picking the right tools for you. Losing your short-term subscriptions, and emptying your overflowing filing cabinets for good.
Accountability and analytics - using simple systems and honest conversation to solve your problems and keep things moving.
Leaving you to do what you love - whether that is growing your business, or spending time with people you care about. So you don’t have to be thinking about the who, what, why, where, when.
Who do I work with?
Good question. I’m glad you asked. I’ve advised multinational manufacturers, and independent entrepreneurs. I’ve managed projects for super-cool simulation companies, and helped uber-niche heritage brands. But what connects them is that they are run by people who absolutely love what they do.
I work with passionate people who know what they want, but don’t know how to make it happen. I work with people that know what they don’t know. And they trust that I’ll sort out the bits that they don’t know about, don’t have time for, or are just plain bored by.
If that's you, then read on...
Why on earth should you listen to me about this stuff?
I started my career as an engineer and project manager in professional motorsport. The race (nearly always) starts at Sunday, 15:00, whether you are ready or not. So I quickly learnt to always be ready. Whilst I don’t work exclusively with this fast-paced, relentless world anymore, the lessons I learnt still inform how I manage projects today.
I’ve started and scaled businesses - for myself and others. I’m an engineer that understands business. In fact, I’m now trusted to teach management and business to the next generation of engineers. I know that you probably don’t have all day to be evaluating options and chasing contracts. I understand that your people are your priority and that they don’t come in one-size-fits-all.
I’m down-to-earth and honest. I’m sure most people would say that, but I really mean it. If I can’t help you, I’ll tell you. I’m insatiably curious about what makes businesses work so I’m always learning and exploring, connecting people and things. If you work with me, I’ll add value to your project and your operations beyond the brief. I promise.
What do you get out of working with me?
You’ll benefit from my experience and knowledge, without committing to costly permanent hires. I’ll hit the ground running, and bring two decades of know-how with me.
You can tap into my network of trusted suppliers, collaborators and associates. I’ve been networking, on and offline, for more than a decade. I know good people.
You get informed, but independent opinions. When you are busy running a business it can be really hard to keep track of innovations. It’s my job to keep up with technology trends and the latest business thinking so you don’t have to.
How do I work?
It depends on the nature of your project. You can opt for one-off audits and consultancy sessions, or agree fixed term contracts and retainer agreements.
I live in rural Oxfordshire, United Kingdom, but have travelled extensively for business, and work regularly as part of remote teams. I am based at the incredibly beautiful Greatworth Hall, but regularly travel to Oxford, London and beyond to work with clients. I’m (nearly) always on the end of the phone/email/Google Meet for you.
